fashion

  1. Document what you did in the session on Tuesday and Wednesday (Pictures, Diary entries, Printouts ETC)
In our carousel this week we went to fashion, in our first session we created an ink printing onto fabric; we did this by mixing powder with water but unfortunately we couldn't use a lot of powder as it was expensive and couldn't mix it ourselves. We started by painting onto a piece of paper what we wanted onto our t-shirt design to be. I found it difficult to know what colours i was using as they changed colour as we heat pressed it onto the fabric.

in the next season we sewed onto our t-shirt designs to make a pattern and attached fabric to our designs. I found it hard to use the sewing machine as I have never used one before; I found it hard to sew a straight line or make a pattern.
  1. List under the following
  • Research that you carry out in these sessions - We did primary research throughout by carrying out the work ourselves and we also did secondary research by looking though a power point created by the teacher that helped us learn how to use the sewing machine and embroidery hoops.
  • Skills that you have tried,
over the last two days I learnt how to use a sewing machine and Applique which is ornamental needlework in which pieces of fabric are sewn or stuck on to a larger piece to form a picture or pattern.
I also learnt how to hand sew which is useful I found hand sewing easier than using the sewing machine.
  • Any processes
  • and methods you used.
  •
when we Appligue we traced the shape we wanted to use onto the smooth side off a bondawer then we placed the rough side of the bondawer down onto the wrong side of the fabric and ironed over for 5 seconds. then we cut out our shape and removed the piece of paper from the fabric and then ironed back onto our design.
  • Any tools that you used.
we used a sewing machine to create patterns and a needle and thread to hand sew.
